Role summary
This role is for a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) student, focusing on Health Visiting or School Nursing within Buckinghamshire. You will undertake training to develop expertise in public health nursing for children, young people, and families, aiming to reduce health inequalities. The position involves learning to deliver the Healthy Child Programme and completing a university course alongside a practice placement in a local community.

- Education, Qualifications & Training
- Registered Nurse or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Willingness to undertake V100/V300 Nurse Prescribing qualification
- Post registration experience
- Community experience or other experience relevant to Health Visiting/School Nursing
- Working with babies, children, young people and families in a variety of settings
- Ability to work within the scope of professional practice and demonstrate safe, effective autonomous decision-making.
- knowledge and experience of safeguarding children and child protection policies and procedures
- Working in partnership with a wide range of partner agencies.
- Experience of facilitation, training or group work with children, families or professionals
- Experience of audit, service evaluation or quality improvement activity
- Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
- Knowledge of the Public Health role of health visiting/school nursing in community settings
- Knowledge of local and national policies which influence the provision of health visiting/school nursing
- Knowledge and broad understanding of the Public Health agenda for babies, children, young people and their families
- Current knowledge of safeguarding issues and practice
- Knowledge of quality issues, audit process and clinical governance
- Ability to support children and families to make informed decisions in relation to their health and well being
- Demonstrate ability to adapt to changing environments
- Demonstrate knowledge of research based practice
- Evidence of supporting equality and valuing diversity in own practice.
