Role summary
This is an opportunity for an experienced and motivated Band 3 Nursing Support Worker to join the Admissions Unit at Royal Glamorgan Hospital. The role involves working on a 14-bedded adult assessment and treatment ward for mental health patients. The successful candidate will collaborate with qualified staff to deliver high-standard, person-centred care and will experience diverse mental illnesses affecting working-age individuals.
Essential criteria
- Good communication skills - verbal, non-verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and sensitively
Desirable criteria
- Welsh Language Speaking & Listening Skills (Level 3 and above/B2)
- Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW).
- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
- Experience of working within a mental health environment in heath or social care, providing direct patient care
- Experience of working with patient groups relevant to area of practice.
- Ability to demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach.
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the role, including lifting, assisting with mobility, implementing restraint (if required) and performing other manual tasks.
- Ability to use technology to undertake the role, for example Microsoft Office, virtual platforms such TEAMS.
- Organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise own and others workload efficiently.
- Have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent competence gained through experience and supervision
- Ability to be able to complete certified /accredited physical intervention training, for example Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) during induction.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 3 Nursing Support Worker to join our team on Admissions Unit based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
We are a 14 bedded adult assessment and treatment ward providing person centred care for people suffering with mental health problems.
