Role summary

This role supports the Education Centre at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, focusing on medical education and development for staff and trainees. The post holder will assist with educational governance, quality management of placements, and compliance with regulatory standards. Key responsibilities include coordinating training programmes, supporting monitoring visits, and managing educational databases. The successful candidate will work independently and as part of a team, requiring strong organisational skills and the ability to build relationships.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the co-ordination of training programmes by liaising and communicating with key stakeholders.
  • Assist with the planning and organisation of Undergraduate, GMC and NHS England monitoring visits.
  • Ensure that the learning environment is appropriate for students, trainees and doctors with disabilities.
  • Ensure all committees and meetings under the structure of education are organised and supported.
  • Provide support for and contribute to continual monitoring, audit and evaluation of all aspects of the education and training programmes.
  • Undertake delegated responsibility for PGME & Consultant Study leave budget.

Essential criteria

  • NVQ Level 4 or equivalent experience
  • Good general level of education
  • High standard of verbal and written communications skills
  • Knowledge of clinical and and medical education trainings
  • Previous clerical or administrative experience within the NHS
  • Experience of supporting students
  • Experience of working within undergraduate/postgraduate medical education
  • A clear understanding of confidentiality and the Data Protection Act
  • Proficient in all MS Office
  • Able to generate letters and other documentation with high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive personnel related communication and issues with discreteness and sound judgement
  • Ability to be a confident and credible resource for employee, students and managers on related Education and development related matters

Job summary

LHCH is committed to supporting the education and development of all staff and trainees. The post holder will provide support to the Education Centre, working closely with the Medical Education Facilitator, Clinical and Medical Education Lead, Director of Medical Education and Postgraduate Tutors. The role includes supporting educational governance, quality management of placements and programmes, and ensuring compliance with Trust objectives, Care Quality Commission requirements and other assurance standards. The post holder will support delivery of the educational contract between LHCH and the Mersey Deanery, and the Learning Development Agreement with Health Education England to ensure students and trainees receive high quality education and training. The post holder will have operational responsibility for undergraduate and postgraduate medical training programmes and associated educational activities, including study leave administration, evaluations and accreditation reporting. Duties include maintaining educational databases, analysing information and producing reports to support quality improvement and programme management.
