Role summary
This role is for a motivated and dynamic pharmacist to join an award-winning department at Barts Health NHS Trust. You will participate in a rotational band 7 pharmacist programme across four hospital sites, focusing on medicines optimisation and patient care. Responsibilities include working with multidisciplinary teams, assessing patient's own drugs, medicine reconciliation, and patient counselling. You will also contribute to the department's research agenda.
Essential criteria
- oPost registration experience in an acute hospital based clinical post.
- oExperience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide patient care.
- oExperience of undertaking research, quality improvement or audit projects.
- oTo have been involved in bringing about change to a service/department
Desirable criteria
- o Experience delivering care in acute medicine and surgery specialties in a ward setting.
- oExcellent interpersonal skills.
- oAble to complete documentation accurately with attention to detail.
- oAble to accurately follow written procedures under pressure.
- oDemonstrate numeracy skills and ability to perform accurate, complex calculations.
- oAbility to plan, prioritise and organise self and others.
- oAbility to manage times effectively and work to deadlines.
- Ability to work unsupervised and under pressure.
- IT literate; able to use Microsoft Office with intermediate IT skills including accurate data entry and use of specialist computer programs.
- Effective problem solving skills.
- Able to communicate complex information effectively to all health and care professionals, colleagues, patients, and their loved ones.
- Demonstrates ability to deliver staff training.
- o Experience investigating and managing medication related incidents.
- oMPharm or equivalent.
- oRegistered as a pharmacist with the GPhC.
- oDiploma in Clinical Pharmacy/Pharmacy Practice or equivalent.
- o Independent prescribing qualification.
- oRCPharm Advanced Framework or evidence of working towards

Job summary
Do you want to join an award-winning department that puts clinical pharmacists at the forefront of medicines optimisation and patient care?The Pharmacy Department at Barts Health covers a population of 2.5 million. We provide medicines management and medicines optimisation services from our four hospital sites across the City of London and East London.
We are looking for motivated and dynamic pharmacists to join the department at Barts Health to participate in the rotational band 7 pharmacist programme. The programme includes 9-month rotations across the four different sites of Royal London hospital, St Bartholomew's hospital, Whipps Cross hospital and Newham hospital.
You will work closely with medical and nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team on a wide range of medicines optimisation matters, and to ensure standardisation of medicine policies and procedures wherever appropriate.
You will also be expected to contribute to the research agenda working with staff across the Pharmacy department and student placements.
