Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an independent, organised, and motivated administrator to join the busy Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) team. The role involves providing high-quality, patient-focused administrative support to the Multidisciplinary team within the Thoracic and Ambulatory Directorate. Responsibilities include proactively monitoring and tracking patient pathways to ensure timely processing in line with targets. The post holder will liaise with senior clinical and non-clinical staff and prioritize tasks to deliver efficient administrative support.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high quality, patient focused, efficient and complete administrative support to the Multidisciplinary team.
- Proactively monitor and track patient pathways to ensure timely and efficient patient journeys.
- Liaise with senior clinical and non-clinical staff both internally and externally.
- Prioritise tasks to provide a patient focused, high quality, efficient and complete administrative support service.
- Provide a co-ordinated but flexible approach to the organisation of patient's electronic notes, letters, referrals, and documentation.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team including clinicians, managers, and other administrative staff.
Essential criteria
- Administrative qualification at Level 3 such as NVQ or BTEC, or equivalent experience
- English & Maths to GCSE standard
- Previous experience of using Microsoft Office Applications
- Previous experience of working in an office environment
- The ability to communicate basic or sensitive information to colleagues, patients, and relatives
- The ability to pay close attention to detail in written and electronic communication and information storage
- The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high quality administrative support
- Able to organise, prioritise and adjust own workload in relation to the priorities of the department
- The ability to make changes to own practice and offer suggestions for improving services
- Demonstrates personal duty of care in relation to the safe use of equipment and other resources
- Maintains the quality in own work and encourages others to do
- Ability to work freely and independently to negotiate and book patient admissions/ appointments
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Ability to treat all employee and other hospital information confidentially
- Recognition of factors in maintaining own and others health, safety and security
- Supportive of equality and values diversity
- To be able to sit for long periods of time in a Call Centre setting with VDU + headphones

Desirable criteria
- European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)/equivalent qualification or experience
- Previous experience in minute taking

- Previous experience of using Medical Terminology
