Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Stroke Care to join a comprehensive therapy team. The role involves providing expert advice and support in the management of stroke patients, working autonomously with a caseload, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The post holder will contribute to 7-day working and help develop and deliver postgraduate training. The service is currently at Kent and Canterbury Hospital but will move to William Harvey Hospital in 2028.
Key responsibilities
- Provide day to day ward leadership for Physiotherapy services across Stroke Wards within EKHUFT, collaborating with Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy Teams.
- Offer key therapeutic clinical expertise, high quality advice and support to the multi-disciplinary team.
- Assist the clinical lead in planning, developing, optimising, and evaluating the stroke therapy service and its processes.
- Establish and develop sound communication networks with other clinical specialists across the Health Economy to ensure a high quality, efficient service.
- Ensure clinical governance targets are met, including developing clinical standards, protocols, evidence-based practice, audit, research, and risk management.
- Develop and deliver postgraduate training relevant to the clinical specialty in conjunction with the MDT.
Essential criteria
- BSc Physiotherapist
- HCPC registration
- 2 years Band 6 in Neurological Rehabilitation
- Proven record of providing high quality intervention for high risk patients.
- Knowledge of up to date clinical / evidenced based practice.
- Highly developed clinical skills in relevant area.
- Experience or participation in research or audit
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Teaching / facilitating training.
- Excellent organisational skills
- Excellent time management.
- Up to date therapeutic moving & handling skills.
- Basic IT knowledge.
- Effective and strong team player
- Practice educator
- Awareness of professional issues and recent developments in the NHS and Primary Care including Clinical Governance, NICE and CQC.
- Evidence and knowledge of working with other stakeholders, community services and charities
- Awareness of Key Performance Indicators or service contracts.
- Able to support the implementation of local and national agenda's for health under the guidance of the team lead / service manager.
- Experience of clinical audit

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Stroke Care, to join our comprehensive therapy team.
The stroke service is currently provided at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital and the current strategic plan is for the Stroke Service to move to a new build at the William Harvey Hospital in 2028.
For this post we require your enthusiasm, motivation and passion to help deliver a patient focused service which is based on evidence with the patient at the core of every aspect of their own pathway. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the visions and values of our specialty and the Trust. They will not only work autonomously, managing their own caseload, but work as a team member ensuring timely communication and collaborative working across many services.
As part of the Stroke workforce development, we are looking to provide comprehensive Stroke rehabilitation across 7 days and the post holder will be expected to contribute to 7 day working.
