Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and experienced secretary in the Vascular Department, providing comprehensive secretarial support. The successful candidate will manage their own workload, prioritize tasks, and maintain good records, with a good understanding of Referral to Treatment (RTT) pathways. Previous NHS experience and high-level audio typing skills are essential. The post holder will coordinate administrative arrangements to provide a high-quality secretarial service to the consultant, medical, and nursing team.
Essential criteria
- NVQ Business Administration L3 or equivalent experience.
- RSA /OCR level 2 or equivalent experience (must be a proficient user of Microsoft word.
- IT related qualification CLAIT plus /ECDL or equivalent.
- AMSPAR - City & Guilds L3.
- NVQ Customer Service L3
- Knowledge of a range of administrative processes.
- Experience of working in a busy office environment.
- Experience of working within the NHS.
- Competently communicates professionally and effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing
- Proficient in use of Microsoft office applications.
- Experienced in planning and organising and prioritise own workload.
- Flexible approach to work and adaptable to changing service demands.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Minute-taking skills
- Evidence of Continual Personal development
- Ability to deal with sensitive information
- Knowledge of NHS Organisations
- Medical terminology.
- Team player.
- Approachable /Friendly Confident manner.

Job summary
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced secretary in our Vascular Department to provide comprehensive secretarial support within the department.
It is essential that applicants have previous NHS experience and possess a high level of audio typing skills. You should hold a Medical Secretarial Qualification (or have equivalent previous experience) and are qualified to a minimum of RSA Stage 2 (or equivalent).
The successful applicant will be able be able to work as part of a team while managing their own independent workload and competing priorities. The post holder will have a good understanding of Referral to Treatment (RTT) pathways and the ability to maintain good and reliable records.
Main duties of the job
To support the co-ordination of the administration arrangements to provide a high quality supportive secretarial service to the consultant, medical and nursing team. To work independently and be accountable for organising/prioritising own workload to ensure deadlines are achieved. To support the facilitation of the patients along a defined pathway.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
