Key responsibilities
- Assess care needs and plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care without supervision.
- Promote clinical excellence through evidence-based practice and ensure all nursing documentation is complete and up to date.
- Lead, educate, supervise, support, and develop qualified and unqualified staff within their sphere of responsibility.
- Lead a team of staff at Band 5 or below.
- Demonstrate the ability to manipulate medical devices and fine instruments, and adhere to safe custody and administration of medicines standards.
- Follow safeguarding measures for both adults and children and undertake physically active tasks such as moving patients and equipment.

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Secondment on the Respiratory Care Unit. This position is for an individual who is a highly motivated individual with experience of working within the Respiratory speciality. In our 8 bedded Respiratory Care Unit we care for a wide variety of acutely ill patients, with many patients requiring NIV, CPAP and Airvo. In addition, they may have Invasive Line Monitoring such as Arterial and Central Lines. This band 6 nurse role will consist of providing expert respiratory nursing care to these complex patients and lead by example in compassionate and quality care.

The successful candidate will be required to take charge of the Unit and lead a team of our junior staff with their learning and developmental needs.
