Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and skilled Sister/Charge Nurse to join the D Neuro team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves assisting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in managing a 27-bed male acute neurosurgery and neurological ward, ensuring high standards of patient care. You will act as a strong leader, demonstrating clinical expertise and fostering a collaborative environment. The position requires flexibility to cover day and night shifts as part of a bleep roster.

Essential criteria

  • Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
  • Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register
  • Significant post registration experience / qualification / training, including experience and knowledge within relevant speciality
  • Ward management experience
  • Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service
  • Experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Provide evidence of supporting / managing a range of learners in practice
  • Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice

D Neuro is a 27-bed male acute neurosurgery and neurological ward. We also have admission / step-down beds for patients who are transferred from Neuro HDU. These beds accommodate all acute neurosurgical conditions, including subarachnoid haemorrhage and head injuries.
