Role summary

This role involves providing expert, high-quality clinical pharmacy services to haematology patients, primarily focusing on Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT). You will undertake independent prescribing, support new treatments, and contribute to medicines optimisation and governance. You will support education, lead service improvements, and participate in dispensary weekend and emergency duties.

Key responsibilities

  • Provision of expert, high-quality, patient-centred clinical pharmacy services to haematology patients across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Undertaking the role of an independent prescriber.
  • Support the introduction of new and emerging treatments.
  • Provide specialist advice to medical, nursing and pharmacy teams on all aspects of haematology medicines as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Undertake the duties of an 'Authorised Pharmacist,' taking responsibility for the final release of aseptically prepared injectable medicines.
  • Support the education, training and development of pharmacy trainees and other healthcare professionals.

Essential criteria

  • Vocational Master's Degree in Pharmacy
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Evidence of clinical pharmacy skills
  • Evidence of ongoing continued professional development
  • Completed first year of post graduate clinical pharmacy diploma or demonstrable equivalent NHS hospital experience
  • Relevant post-registration hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Delivery of clinical pharmacy services to a range of specialities

  • Experience as an authorised pharmacist releasing aseptically prepared Systemic AntiCancer Treatment (SACT
