Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, or Nurse to join the Newham Early Intervention Service (NEIS). The service supports individuals aged 18 to 65 experiencing their first episode of psychosis, aiming to minimize untreated symptoms and engage clients in biopsychosocial interventions. The role involves care coordination, service delivery, and contributing to a multidisciplinary team focused on recovery and community-based strategies. The successful candidate will help establish a sustainable model of care in Newham, which has high rates of psychosis.
Essential criteria
- Formal qualifications in health or social care, e.g., RMN, Dip SW, etc.
- Post registration experience
Desirable criteria
- Psychosocial Intervention Qualification and/or recognised psychotherapy training.
- Family intervention training.
- Experience of working with people who have serious mental health difficulties in a multi-disciplinary/agency environment
- Experience of working within a health trust or social services department.
- Experience of supervising junior staff and/or students.
- Experience of carrying out assessments to include physical health.
- Experience of working with people with first episode of psychosis and their carers
- Working in a multi-cultural setting, including working with interpreters
- Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge or experience of early intervention in psychosis.
- Experience in preparing written and verbal reports
- Creative and resourceful
- Knowledge of welfare and vocational issues.
- Ability to work in a team on own initiative Excellent problem solving skills.
- Experience of promoting recovery.
- Flexible and adaptable
- Ability to identify people's needs and strengths.
- Demonstrate the provision of user centred care
- Demonstrate the ability to make a difference
