Role summary

Key responsibilities

  • Attend University and clinical placements as set out in the degree programme.
  • Complete and pass academic modules and clinical placements to the required standard.
  • Organise and manage a clinical caseload, mapped against evolving capability.
  • Gain knowledge and skills to assess, diagnose, develop and implement individualised treatment programmes.
  • Provide a speech and language therapy service to patients with communication and/or swallowing disorders with appropriate support.

Essential criteria

  • Literate and numerate in English
  • Experience working as a band 3 or 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant in the NHS
  • Knowledge of EMIS or similar IT system
  • Sound IT skills including word processing and data analysis such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work on own initiative and without supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a team and actively participate in team meetings
  • Recent work in a health or social care setting as a band 4 SLT assistant
  • Experience of working with people who have a physical or mental health condition
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable criteria

  • Previous degree
  • Certificates from relevant other training in healthcare
  • Holds a current UK driving license and has access to a car for work purposes
  • Negotiation skills, ale to overcome barriers
  • Experience of working in the community/home working

The post holder will be employed by Bromley Healthcare while undertaking an approved apprenticeship programme leading to HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist on successful completion. The role combines:
