Role summary
This role is for a Team Leader in the Lambeth community perinatal mental health service. The post holder will manage the delivery of care, lead a team of professional and support staff, and ensure high-quality, evidence-based practice. They will be responsible for clinical and managerial supervision, working in partnership with various agencies, and placing service users at the centre of care delivery. The role requires excellent clinical knowledge in perinatal mental health and experience in a diverse inner-city borough.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure clinical practice is developed using up-to-date evidence and staff have appropriate skills and training.
- Provide assessment, care, and treatment as a care co-ordinator for women on the perinatal caseload.
- Manage team finances within allocated budgets, including recruitment and managing absences.
- Set, monitor, and evaluate overall standards of care and practice in liaison with clinical leads and other agencies.
- Ensure all team practices respect service users' dignity, identity, and independence.
- Maintain efficient use of staffing resources, ensuring safe and appropriate staffing levels and skill mix.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse-Mental Health or other professional registration such as Occupational Therapy & Social Work
- Mentorship Course (or other relevant teaching/assessment course)
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Significant experience of managing clinical practice in a mental health service
- Experience of implementing and monitoring standards of care
- Experience of providing clinical and managerial supervision
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
- Specialist clinical knowledge relevant to the service, including evidence based practice.
- Understanding of the role and function of other organisations providing services to people with mental ill-health.
Desirable criteria
- Master level qualification
- Experience of working with pregnant and postnatal women and of using a variety of models and approaches to care
- Experience of implementing significant changes in working practices

Job summary
We are seeking to recruit two enthusiastic, energetic and clinically confident clinician into a Team Leader's role for Lambeth teams. They will have overall management responsibility for the delivery of care within an integrated community perinatal service, in accordance with Trust policies and procedures. The post holder will lead a team of professional and support staff in the delivery of high quality evidence-based practice, ensuring that regular supervision and appraisal take place.
The post holder will be familiar with Perinatal community standards, governance and performance structures and confident in partnership work with agencies such as Children and Family Social Services, Midwifery, CMHTs, Health Visitors and Voluntary sector.
You will display excellent clinical knowledge and skilled practice in women with mental health disorders in the perinatal period. You will provide consistent skilled judgments in clinical work. You need to have experience of working in a richly diverse inner city Borough and have the understanding of the opportunities challenges that this brings.
