Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 7 Advanced Audiologist / Clinical Scientist to lead and develop the adult audiology service at Oxford University Hospitals. The role involves providing advanced diagnostic assessment, fitting hearing aids, and contributing to Balance MDT clinics. The postholder will also have a key role in operational management, supervising staff, and leading service development. The role requires a high level of clinical expertise in vestibular audiology and registration with HCPC or AHCS.
Essential criteria
- BSc Audiology, PTP Healthcare Science (Audiology) or MSc in audiology with CAC / HTS, or STP in neurosciences (audiology modality)
- State registered with HCPC as a Clinical Scientist (audiology modality), or with AHCS as a Healthcare Scientist
- Evidence of further specialist training in audiovestibular assessment
Desirable criteria
- M-level qualification in audiology
- Significant experience working as a band 6 specialist audiologist / Clinical Scientist in diagnostic adult audiology
- Experience of training other members of staff including those at same or higher grade (as well as more junior staff)
- Experience of managing hearing loss in adults with complex needs
- Significant experience and expertise in audiovestibular assessment
- Experience of communicating with colleagues from other disciplines including ENT, Neurology, Geriatrics.
- Experience of clinical audit and service evaluations
- Expert knowledge / skill in hearing aid fitting in adults including use of non-routine devices
- Previous line-management experience
- Research experience
- Skills and personal attributes
- Line-management skills including use of coaching style, giving feedback, active listening,
- Ability to give formal presentations at local and national meetings / conferences
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Excellent clinical judgement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate complex information to people from a variety of educational backgrounds in emotionally challenging situations
- Positive attitude and approach, with can-do attitude even when under pressure
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Committed to development of staff within own team and within the wider audiology team
- High level IT skills with clinical software including Auditbase, evoked potential and specialist hearing aid software

Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Band 7 Advanced Audiologist / Clinical Scientist to join us at Oxford University Hospitals. This is an ideal post for an experienced Audiologist / Clinical Scientist to have a key role in leading and developing our adult audiology service and would suit someone who would like to further develop their specialist adult audiology, management and leadership skills. You will be working closely with our Team Leader for Adult Rehabilitation, our Hearing Therapy Lead, and our Audiology Training Leads, reporting to the Lead for Adult Audiology. We are looking for a forward-thinking and highly motivated individual to join us as we continue our service development journey.
You will be an audiologist with BSc or PTP in audiology or a Clinical Scientist (Audiology) and must have a high level of clinical expertise in vestibular audiology. You must be registered with HCPC as a Clinical Scientist or AHCS as an Audiologist ( please note that HCPC HAD registration is not sufficient ). Previous NHS experience at Band 6+ level is also essential, with previous experience of operational management and staff supervision an advantage. You will require excellent communication skills,
