Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and experienced Healthcare Support Worker to join the Adult Cardiac Critical Care Unit at the Bart's Heart Centre. The successful candidate will support the ward manager and team in providing safe, quality care and ensuring the service develops in line with Trust objectives. The role requires excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care within a critical care environment. It covers a 24-hour service, including long days, night duty, weekends, and bank holidays.
Essential criteria
- GCSE in maths and English language or minimum of Key Skills Level 1 in literacy and numeracy.
- Experience in working in a team
- Experience of working with the public and demonstrating strong customer care skills
Desirable criteria
- Health care / caring experience
- NVQ Level 2 in Healthcare
- Understands the job role
- Knowledge of the principles of confidentiality and the Data Protection Act
- Demonstrates an understanding of the need for patient focused care
- Awareness of physical, psychological, cultural and social needs of patients
- Understanding of the need for respect, trust, courtesy and effective communication with both patients and staff
- Knowledge of infection control procedures
