Role summary
This role is for a Registered Nurse in the Urgent Treatment Centre at Lister Hospital. You will be responsible for triaging patients with minor injuries and illnesses, identifying their presenting conditions, and streaming them to the appropriate clinician for treatment. The role involves working alongside Emergency Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, GPs, and Emergency Medical Technicians, ensuring effective coordination of urgent and emergency care services.
Key responsibilities
- Triage patients in the Urgent Treatment Centre.
- Identify presenting presentations from patients.
- Stream patients to the appropriate clinician for diagnosis and treatment.
- Assist Emergency Nurse Practitioners and GPs in maintaining a safe environment.
- Deliver a high standard of care and maintain patient well-being and dignity.
- Monitor demand and capacity in real-time to ensure efficient patient streaming.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse on part 1, part 2 or part 12 of the NMC register
- Commitment to lifelong learning
- Evidence of further education, training and on-going learning
- Ability to produce updated personal professional portfolio
- Evidence of good communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
- Good self-awareness of professional limitations within NMC Code of Conduc
- Ability to prioritise workload and demonstrate good organisational skills
- Computer literacy
- Flexibility around working hours with clinical and rotational shifts
- Understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion

Desirable criteria
- Evidence of Assessing and Mentorship qualification
- Evidence of appropriate Specialist Qualification
- Venipuncture and cannulation
