Role summary
The Orthoptic Department is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician with a special interest in Vision Screening. This part-time Band 4 role involves working within the multi-professional ophthalmology team at Warwick/Stratford Hospital Eye Units and in school environments. The post holder will undertake vision tests on Reception class children, assist in diagnosing vision defects, and manage their own workload and diary. Travel between locations in South Warwickshire and Solihull areas is required.
Essential criteria
- One or more RQF level 3 or SCQF levels 7-8 qualification(s) or equivalent level qualification, including English and Maths key skills
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Completion of the e-learning for Health Child Vision Screening resource and assessment tool
Desirable criteria
- Care Certificate
- Substantial experience as Ophthalmic Technician (to diploma level)
- Previous administration experience
- Demonstrates a good understanding of Ophthalmology processes.
- Able to efficiently plan work and manage time
- Demonstrates knowledge of research based practices
- Able to work as an effective team member
- Able to express self clearly and confidently - verbal and written
- Demonstrates commitment and ability to teach others
- Able to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances
- Able to achieve personal objectives
- Other Job Requirements

- Aware of current NHS issues and priorities
- Car Driver/Independent means of transport
