Job summary
This role is very fast paced with a wide variety of different tasks on a daily basis. This involves a lot of phone calls and general administration duties and also face to face patient contact as a receptionist where there can be numerous different clinics running at one time. You will need to organise and prioritise workload effectively in conjunction with other team members.
The Newcastle Breast Screening Service currently provides breast cancer screening by mammography once every 3 years for a catchment population of approximately 150,000 women between the ages of 50 and 70 who are resident in Northumberland, Newcastle, North Tyneside and Derwentside.
The service is part of the National Breast Screening Programme, which utilises a complex, computerised call/recall system operated in conjunction with systems situated in the relevant PCTs, Care Trusts, and Tyne and Wear Contractor Services Agency. The service utilises 4 mobile screening units covering 16 sites throughout the catchment area, and one static unit.
