Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Sister/Charge Nurse to join the Children & Young People Emergency Department at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves providing clinical expertise, supporting team leaders, and acting as a role model in patient care delivery. The department has recently undergone a £20m refurbishment, offering a state-of-the-art environment. The successful candidate will work 26 hours per week.
Essential criteria
- Experience at Band 5 within relevant specialty
- Proven experience of participation in practice development
- Proven experience of ward /dept. management/staff supervision
Desirable criteria
- Minimum 2 years ED experience
- Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of resource management
- Skilled clinical judgement
- Expanded role skills relevant to area of practice
- Manchester Triage Trained
- Minor Injuries including plaster training/ wound care management
- Registered Nurse relevant to specialty with current registration
- Diploma working towards degree
- Immediate Life Support Certificate
- Mentorship
- APLS Certificate
- TNCC
- PIL's
- First Line Management course

The £20m refurbishment of our Urgent and Emergency Care has been completed, so there has never been a more exciting time to join the Urgent and Emergency Care team, influencing and shaping the both the Emergency Care our patients receive and the environment our staff work in.
The new state of the art Emergency Department includes6 cubicles including a Mental health cubicle within the Children and Young Peoples Emergency Department
Main duties of the job
- To provide clinical expertise to the departmental team, acting as a role model in the deliveryof patient care.
- To support the Team leader in the effective management of the clinical area
- To always act in a manner consistent with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, carrying out his/her duties in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
- To lead, support, supervise and teach staff.
