Role summary

This role is for a proactive and highly organised Medical Secretary to join the Paediatric Department, supporting cardiology and general paediatrics. You will provide vital administrative support, working closely with an experienced team in a fast-paced environment. The job involves managing patient correspondence, RTT, and liaising with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth service delivery. Strong administrative skills, accuracy, and confidentiality are essential for this role.

Essential criteria

  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English. Minimum level of GCSE English, Grade C or above.

Desirable criteria

  • Audio typing qualifications at RSA Level 3 or equivalent experience. Proven audio typing speed of 50wpm.
  • Knowledge of office and administrative processes.
  • Previous experience in the NHS or similar healthcare-based environment.
  • Specific Skills
  • Computer literate in Microsoft software: Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload effectively. Be flexible to changing situations ie cross-covering when other secretarial staff on leave.
  • To produce work of a high standard with attention to detail.
