Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and dedicated Band 3 Clinical Support Worker within the Medical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit. The primary responsibility is to provide essential clinical care to patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Duties include recording observations, performing ECGs, urinalysis, bladder scanning, venepuncture, and supporting patients with ADLs. Accurate documentation and excellent communication skills are vital for working within a multidisciplinary team and with patients and families.
Key responsibilities
- Provide essential clinical care to patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
- Carry out delegated clinical duties such as recording patient observations, performing ECG monitoring, conducting urinalysis and pregnancy testing, undertaking bladder scanning, and performing venepuncture.
- Support patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
- Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive documentation of all clinical activities within nursing records.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with patients and their families.
Essential criteria
- Numeracy/Literacy skills to Level 1 (GCSE Grade 2-3, D-F or equivalent) IELTS or OETS (Overall score of C1) accepted for overseas applicants (Level 7 in Listening/speaking/reading & Level 6.5 in Writing)
- Care Certificate or must complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care/Equivalent qualification or willing/required to complete if successful (If applicant has 3 years or more care experience this is voluntary)
- 12 months experience in a professional contract as a Healthcare Assistant or equivalent

Job summary
At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations. In relation to Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker roles, we are currently able to recruit successfully from the domestic labour market and have a sufficient pool of suitably qualified and appointable candidates.
