Role summary
This role involves providing specialist clinical expertise in tissue viability, working across both acute and community settings. The post holder will offer advice and treatment for complex wounds, deliver specialist education and training on wound management and skin integrity, and ensure practices align with local and national guidelines. Key duties include autonomous work, clinical assessments, patient and staff education, and audit tasks.
Key responsibilities
- Work autonomously to provide tissue viability advice to patients, staff and families.
- Undertake clinical procedures and wound/skin assessments.
- Provide patient and staff education.
- Deal with complex and sensitive information.
- Conduct audit work.
- Prepare inquest reports and attend coroners court as required.
Essential criteria
- RGN - degree
- Extensive experience with complex wound management
- Post registration specialist qualification in wound management
- Post registration qualification in Teaching and Assessing
- Working autonomously in acute and community setting
- Advanced communication and assessment skills.
- Significant post registration experience
- IT knowledge and ability
- Ability to work across multiple systems
- Teaching and assessing qualification
Desirable criteria
- Independent prescriber V300
- Physical health assessment qualification
- Leg ulcer course
