Role summary
This role is for an experienced community mental health nurse, social worker, or occupational therapist to join an integrated Community Mental Health Service. The practitioner will support the triage and assessment of individuals with complex mental health needs, working alongside primary and secondary care practitioners. The role involves undertaking assessments, providing clinical advice, and offering brief interventions to support recovery. The service emphasizes a trauma-informed psychological approach to increase independence and improve quality of life.
Essential criteria
- Registered mental health nurse (NMC registration) or Occupational Therapist (HCPC registration) or Social Worker (Social Work England)
- Post-registration experience, evidence of formal courses and training at diploma/degree level.
- Registered Mentor /Practice Educator
Desirable criteria
- Leadership qualification
- BSc degree in nursing or equivalent level
- Qualification in providing supervision/coaching
- Evidence of post qualifying training - ie Non - medical Prescriber or psychological intervention qualification including EMDR, CBT, CBTp, Family Interventions, CAT, DBT, systemic training
- Evidence of extensive post registration experience with working with adults experiencing mental health related difficulties
- Experience of working with people who have difficulty in engaging with services and have complex mental health needs
- Experience of working in community setting and making decisions autonomously

North Shropshire Community Mental Health Service provide assessment and evidence based interventions for people who presenting with complex mental health difficulties that are significantly impacting on their daily life alongside our partner organisations.
We are looking for a practitioner to the join our team to work alongside our primary & secondary care practitioners and wider partners to support the triage and assessment of those being referred into our service.
You will need to encourage effective engagement of this cohort of people, utilising excellent communication skills, whilst maintaining compassion and hope through every contact. We also keen to incorporate a trauma informed psychological approach which aims to increase people's independence, working towards an improved quality of life.
