Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Acute Frailty Therapy Team at Queen's Hospital. The role involves working as an autonomous practitioner with a focus on early assessment and discharge planning for acutely unwell frail patients. You will assess patients with diverse presentations and complex physical, cognitive, and psychological conditions within elderly and medical specialities. The team works closely with a multidisciplinary team to facilitate safe and rapid discharge.
Essential criteria
- Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
- H.C.P.C. Registration
- Evidence of recent and relevant CPD

- Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate
- Ability to work without supervision
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of limitations of own clinical practice and identify appropriate solutions

- Understand the legal responsibilities of the profession and their implications for practice
- Understand clinical governance and its implications for service delivery and demonstrate evidence of its clinical application i.e. audit

- To have recent broad clinical experience during Band 5 rotations in an acute hospital setting
- Active participation of in service training
- Evidence of recent working within an acute hospital setting and treating patients with complex needs within the NHS
- Previous band 6 acute experience
- Recent clinical experience working in Emergency Department or Frailty Unit
- Training of physiotherapy students on placements.
- Participation in weekend rotas

Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our fast paced and dynamic Acute Frailty Therapy Team in Queen's Hospital.
As a Band 6 Physiotherapist in a large and busy team you will be required to demonstrate leadership skills and be confident to work as an autonomous practitioner with a focus on early assessment and discharge planning, with rapid and robust decision-making essential for efficient patient flow.
You will be familiar with the assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical, cognitive, and psychological health conditions within elderly and medical specialities to develop and deliver treatment and discharge plans.
The Team works closely with the larger Multidisciplinary Team to care for acutely unwell frail patients attending the hospital and through collaborative decision making with our colleagues we facilitate safe and rapid discharge from hospital. We are based in Queen's Emergency Department, Frailty SDEC, Medical SDEC, Queen's Frailty Unit and an elderly inpatient ward in Queen's Hospital.
The team is an integrated service with Occupational Therapy, and you will be supported by Band 7 Physiotherapists, a Clinical Specialist P
