Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife to join the Community Midwifery Team as a Team Leader at Saint Mary's Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves managing a team of midwives, developing practice as a midwifery expert, and providing advice to colleagues. The successful candidate will support the senior midwifery team in implementing continuity of care and quality improvement, working closely with Matrons and Lead Midwives. This position requires excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills, with a focus on delivering safe, high-quality patient care.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a team of midwives and develop practice as a midwifery expert.
- Provide advice to colleagues in the organisation and work in partnership with other agencies.
- Support the senior midwifery team in line with national and local initiatives, including continuity of care and quality improvement.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be resilient and able to manage complex situations, well-organised and innovative.
- Support change processes and utilise influencing and negotiation skills to deliver integrated and effective services.
Essential criteria
- Awareness of National and local health policy relating to maternity and wider health economy
- NMC standards and requirements
- Substantial experience at Band 6 in a Community Midwifery environment
- Evidence of good organisational and planning skills
- Recent evidence of continuing professional and personal development Implementation of audit / research Recommendations
