Role summary
This role involves supporting the day-to-day management of patient appointments and capacity within the Access, Booking and Choice Team. You will work with various teams to ensure timely patient access to care, manage waiting lists, and proactively resolve booking issues. The position requires excellent communication, organisational skills, and attention to detail to meet RTT and Cancer Waiting Time standards.
Key responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operational management of inpatient and outpatient access, booking and capacity services.
- Work collaboratively with Capacity Planning Co-ordinators, Booking Teams, Operational Managers and Clinical Teams to balance capacity and demand.
- Support waiting list management and validation processes, identifying and escalating issues.
- Work flexibly across the service, redeploying resources as required to meet operational demands.
- Monitor workloads, performance and capacity, taking appropriate action to address concerns and improve efficiency.
- Support the implementation of service improvements and new ways of working, promoting high standards of customer care.
Essential criteria
- Management /Supervisory experience.
- Skills in managing and prioritising own workload.
- Excellent keyboard skills with substantial experience of using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Clerical experience within an office environment.
- Working knowledge of Choose & Book, LE2.2, ERS and other IT systems
- ECDL or equivalent skills
- GCSE Maths and English Grade C/4 and above or equivalent
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively by verbal and written means
- Ability to use MS office packages including Word, Excel and teams
- Ability to work under pressure
- Deal confidently with clinicians, managers and colleagues
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of RTT targets and pathways
- Knowledge of clinics and waiting lists
- Team leading /ILM qualification
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent knowledge.
- keen to learn new skills
- Competent and confident to work autonomously and under supervision

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced and rewarding environment, supporting management of patient appointments & capacity across a range of specialties.
