Role summary
This role provides comprehensive administrative support to the busy Brooke Treatment Unit, working alongside the Ward Manager and Operational Service Team. Key responsibilities include managing elective waiting lists, coordinating patient admissions and discharges, and providing day-to-day administrative support. The administrator will work with minimum supervision, requiring excellent organisational and communication skills.
Essential criteria
- Good general education including numeracy and literacy skills
Desirable criteria
- IT related qualification or equivalent
- NVQ 2 business administration
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and non-verbally when dealing with patients/relatives and other internal and external agencies especially when providing or receiving complex or sensitive information.
- Ability to demonstrate the use of information systems, e.g. word processing packages, spreadsheets, databases, patient administration system, email etc.
- Computer literate
- Working knowledge of Trusts current information systems
- Proven previous administrative experience within the NHS setting.

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen to provide comprehensive administrative support to our busy Brooke Treatment Unit.
You will be responsible for supporting the effective and efficient running of the ward alongside the Ward Manager and Operational Service Team in order to meet the ward objectives and those of the organisation.
Key responsibilities include maintaining an elective waiting list, arranging and coordinating patient admissions and discharges, and to provide day to day administrative support to the ward.
The Administrator will be expected to work with minimum supervision.
The role is challenging, encompassing many elements and requires excellent organisational and communication skills.
Main duties of the job
- Managing the waiting list for patients requiring urgent, semi urgent or planned admissions to the ward, ensuring timely access to care in line with clinical need and service targets
- Organising patient admissions and discharges, including transfers and repatriation to and from local hospitals, ensuring clear communication and continuity of care.
- Managing the flow of patients attending the Neurology Ambulatory Care Unit (NACU).
- Liaising with Medical and Nursing staff, MDT team and other departments to ensure diagnost
