Role summary
This role is for a Band 7 Service Manager covering maternity leave within Obstetrics & Neonates at Barnet Hospital. The manager will oversee daily team operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery and compliance with standards. Key responsibilities include line management of staff, contributing to strategic planning, and collaborating with stakeholders for resource management and process improvements. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 12 months.

- Provide direct supervision, development, and support to team staff throughout the fixed-term period.
- Help implement departmental objectives and contribute to strategic priorities.
- Maintain compliance with organisational standards, auditing protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to manage resource allocation and process improvements.
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values
- Postgraduate degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Management qualification or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuing personal development
- Demonstrable experience of working in healthcare in a junior management position
- Experience of staff management and leading a team
- Budget management experience including monitoring expenditure and identifying savings
- Understanding of national NHS policy and targets.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, including oral and written skills, including chairing team meetings, writing reports.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft office; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Skilled in using an EPR system
- Strong numeracy skills with good analytical skills and ability to understand and produce information to use in problem solving
- Ability to negotiate with and influence staff at more junior and senior levels
- Ability to manage own time/ priorities with minimal supervision
- Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment
- Flexible, collaborative and a team player
- Ability to work on own in pursuit of team objectives
