Role summary
This is a part-time permanent position for an Assistant Practitioner in Mammography within the Doncaster & Bassetlaw Breast Screening Service. The role involves undertaking routine radiographic examinations, operating screening systems, and assisting in assessment clinics. The successful candidate will join a friendly team and contribute to a high-quality service.
Essential criteria
- AP Certificate of Competence in Mammography
- GCSE English Language & Maths (Grade C or above) or the equivalent or NVQ Level 2
- Computer literate
- At least 1 years' experience in a healthcare setting in the NHS
- Knowledge & Experience
- Experience operating Trust computer systems
- Experience in a Mammography Department
- Experience in the NHSBSP
- Personal Attributes & Skills
- Communicate effectively with clients, patients, staff and members of the public
- Good team player
- Able to accommodate the demands of the post with flexible working as required and good attendance
- Able to prioritise workload
- To be able to travel independently to meet the demands of the post
- Caring attitude towards patients
- Deal with all clients regardless of medical or social problems
- Tact and Diplomacy
- Ability to deal with clients who have barriers to communication (language, deafness, learning difficulties)
- Able to maintain client confidentiality
- Ability to deal sensitively & compassionately with patients, some of whom may have received bad news
- Work in a logical methodical manner

Main duties of the job
To undertake routine specified radiographic examinations as per achieved competency under the supervision of a senior radiographer and to assist in the delivery of a high quality and accurate service
To act as an operator under the Trusts IR(ME)R 2017 procedures and undertake imaging examinations and procedures as per the departments technique protocols.
To perform routine mammograms at Breast Screening Clinics to a high standard of technique under the supervision of a senior Radiographer.
To operate the National Breast Screening System (NBSS) and RIS (the radiology information system).
To utilise a high level of dexterity, necessary for the positioning and manipulation of patients and imaging equipment.
