Role summary
This is a permanent, part-time Therapy Support Worker role within the Parkinson's Therapy MDT at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will work 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with some evening and weekend/bank holiday cover required. The role involves providing therapy assessment and rehabilitation to Parkinson's patients in an outpatient setting, including individual and group sessions, under the supervision of registered therapists. Duties span physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy support, primarily at the city campus but with potential work at other sites and in community settings.
Key responsibilities
- Provide therapy assessment and rehabilitation to patients with Parkinson's disease in an outpatient setting.
- Support individual appointments and group sessions across Physio, OT, and SLT.
- Assist with exercise therapy, mobility intervention, functional transfers, falls prevention, and equipment provision.
- Support mental health work, including anxiety management, and promote safety, wellbeing, and independence in daily living activities.
- Gather information from patients, relatives, and carers, and provide speech and language rehabilitation support.
- Undertake non-clinical responsibilities such as data collection, equipment management, stock levels, and other admin/housekeeping duties.
Essential criteria
- GCSE (A-C) English and maths or equivalent
- Working towards or achieved NVQ level 3 or equivalent in health related subject.
- Previous experience as a therapy or rehab assistant
- Previous experience of working in the NHS or a care setting
- Effective written, verbal and listening communications skills.
- The ability to communicate with patients who have communication difficulties.
- Ability to work flexibly as part of a team
- Awareness of professional behaviour and issues of confidentiality/data protection.
- Organisational and time management skills
- Skills in prioritizing work tasks
- Physical ability to undertake manual and therapeutic handling of patients and/or equipment on a daily basis in a variety of environments
- Basic computer skills
- Flexible working schedules including participation in weekend rosters where required

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 3 Therapy Support Worker to join our Parkinson's Therapy MDT team at NUH NHS Trust on a permanent, part time basis.
The role will be 22.5 hours Monday to Friday. Cover on a Wednesday will be required until 8pm to support group work in an off site location within Nottingham. The successful candidate will also be required to join a rota system to cover weekend and bank holidays. .
You will work under the supervision and guidance of registered therapists within the multidisciplinary team to provide therapy assessment and rehabilitation to patients with Parkinson's disease in an OP setting. This will be a mixture of individual appointments and group sessions and will support the work of the registered staff in the team across Physio, OT and SLT.
The majority of the work takes place at city campus but you will be expected to be able to work at both sites and potentially in community settings to meet service needs as required.
