Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist to join a community team in North-West Surrey. The role involves specialist assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions for adults with communication and/or swallowing difficulties due to neurological conditions or frailty. The post holder will work autonomously with a complex caseload, providing patient-centred care in various settings including inpatient, outpatient, and domiciliary. The team is committed to high-quality patient care and offers regular clinical supervision and CPD opportunities.

Essential criteria

  • Understanding of the principles of clinical governance and audit
  • Knowledge of standards of record keeping
  • Evidence of applying evidence-based practice and research
  • Knowledge and experience of working with adults with dysphagia &/or communication difficulties
  • Minimum of 18 months working at a junior level with patients in specialist area e.g. Adults, Neurological patients with communication and/or swallowing difficulties
  • Experience of assisting with training and supporting students
  • Excellent experience of setting patient-centred goals & providing outcomes

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working on wards or in outpatient clinics
  • Ability to transcribe speech phonetically
  • Evidence of contribution to publications and/or locally known within field of emerging expertise
  • Evidence of presentations at conferences locally/nationally / or
  • provision of training
  • Experience of translating government and professional guidance into departmental policy and procedure
  • Working knowledge and appreciation of NHS strategy, policies and research ethics
  • Updated knowledge of National Policies and procedures relevant to SLT service.
  • Evidence showing completion of previous Statutory & Mandatory training e.g. Safeguarding Adults, Mental Capacity Act, Information Governance etc
  • Evidence of maintaining and on-going development of clinical skills and theoretical knowledge in area of clinical specialism
  • Experience of supporting students

Job summary

We

have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist to

join our friendly community team. We provide specialist assessment, diagnosis

and therapeutic interventions for adults in the community who have

communication and/or swallowing difficulties, resulting from acquired or

progressive neurological conditions such as stroke, motor neurone disease,

Parkinsons and dementia as well as frailty. We work as part of an integrated

multi-disciplinary team in the North-West Surrey Neighbourhood Boroughs.

position. Candidates must possess valid UK right-to-work documentation.

Main duties of the job

We

are a team committed to delivering high quality patient care, including a

community FEES service. Our clinicians have wide ranging expertise, and peer

support is always readily accessible. The post holder will have access to

regular clinical supervision and CPD opportunities in line with their agreed

personal development plan.

This

post would suit a Band 6 therapist or an experienced Band 5 therapist who is

keen to work towards developing to Band 6. Completed dysphagia training is

preferred but therapists who can evidence significant progress towards

completing their dysphagia competencies will also
