Role summary
This role is for an experienced Clinical Specialist Nurse to join the Adult Mental Health Community team. You will provide clinical expertise and leadership, championing evidence-based practice and delivering high-quality, person-centred interventions. The position involves specialist assessment, formulation, and intervention for adults with complex mental health needs, leading on care planning and risk assessment. You will also contribute to service development, quality improvement, and provide clinical supervision and mentorship.
Key responsibilities
- Provide visible clinical and professional leadership within Adult Mental Health Community services.
- Deliver specialist assessment, formulation, and intervention for adults with complex mental health and behavioural needs.
- Promote high standards in safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, and least-restrictive practice.
- Contribute to quality improvement, audit, research, and service development.
- Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to nursing staff and students.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies, pathways, and standards of care.
Essential criteria
- Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RNMH / RNLD/ (RNSC - CAMHS Only)
- Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor

- And have - Professional clinical knowledge and experience acquired through degree (or equivalent post registration study), supplemented by specialist training, experience, short courses, Module (20 credit) at level 7. For example Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma/Masters Degree, Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Postgraduate diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber), Psychosocial Interventions,
- And have - Equivalent significant clinical experience such as working (minimum of 2 years) as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area, together with evidence of relevant CPD to Level 7 or equivalent
- Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field.

- Clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice
- Working collaboratively with service users their families and carers
- Working in a multi disciplinary team

- Understanding and working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act
- Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
