Role summary
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Staff Nurse with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills to join our Ophthalmology department. This role involves ensuring patient rights, contributing to departmental changes, and maintaining high standards of infection control. You will also learn new specialty skills and demonstrate nursing skills to junior team members, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure the rights of patients are respected and assist in providing information for informed decisions.
- Positively contribute to the process of change within the department.
- Contribute to the reduction of healthcare acquired infection by ensuring high infection control practice.
- Learn and perform new skills in relation to this specialty (e.g., IV drug administration, defibrillation, venipuncture, ECG recording).
- Demonstrate nursing skills to more junior members of the nursing team.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate individual programmes of care for each patient within own sphere of responsibility.
- Act as team leader, including taking charge in the absence of Deputy Ward Manager/Ward Manager.
Essential criteria
- Level 1 Registered Nurse (Adult)
- Experience working in acute setting
- Ability to communicate with the multi-disciplinary team and senior personal
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- EXperience in ophthalmology clinic
- Experience in clinical audit and current research
