Role summary
This role involves providing clinical and professional leadership to midwives, support staff, and students on the Delivery Suite. The post holder will coordinate and develop team activities to ensure a cost-effective, efficient, and quality service. They will collaborate with senior midwifery staff and obstetricians to ensure care pathways reflect best practice and are women-centred. The role includes overall responsibility for operational management of clinical service delivery at ward level, acting as a lead role model, and providing clinical and managerial leadership.
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife
- Evidence of Degree or masters qualification
- Recognised Teaching Qualification
Desirable criteria
- Newborn Life Support (NLS) Course
- Management qualification/leadership course
- Suitable Post-Registration experience within relevant speciality at band 6 or above
- Extensive clinical experience
- In depth knowledge of antenatal high risk pathways
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Involvement in audit
- Previous management experience
- Evidence of the application of management/leadership skills and autonomous practice

Job summary
To provide effective clinical and professional leadership to all midwives, support staff, students and the multidisciplinary team working on Delivery Suite
To have key responsible for the co-ordination and development of team activities in the delivery suite setting to ensure the delivery of a cost-effective, efficient and quality service.
Work in collaboration with the Inpatient matron, Deputy and Head of Midwifery, lead Obstetrician and other key members of the team to ensure pathways of care reflect best practice and are women centred.
The post holder will have overall responsibility for the operational management of clinical service delivery at ward level for Delivery Suite. They will provide excellent leadership and support for the team acting as a lead role model to ensure the provision of excellent women centred evidence based, quality care.
The post holder will provide clinical and managerial leadership to those working in roles up to and including band 6 level. They will be a highly skilled clinical expert with specialised knowledge in caring for women. The post holder will work with the matron for inpatient services to further develop the service.
