Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic Band 6 Infant Feeding Health Visitor to join the Flying Start Wrexham team. The primary focus is to improve infant feeding outcomes, particularly promoting breastfeeding, in line with Baby Friendly Initiative standards. The post holder will provide evidence-based support to parents, deliver targeted interventions, and contribute to service development. This position aims to reduce inequalities and positively impact the health and wellbeing of families in Flying Start areas.
Key responsibilities
- Provide specialist advice to parents/carers/service users to support and increase breastfeeding rates.
- Complete clinical work with protected time.
- Support the Specialist Infant Feeding lead in achieving and maintaining UNICEF UK BFI full accreditation.
- Deliver training and facilitate local breastfeeding groups.
- Undertake appropriate audits as directed by the Infant Feeding Lead.
Essential criteria
- SCPHN Health Visitor Post graduate diploma or Certificate
- Live current NMC Registration
- ABM Foundation/Advanced- completion within 2 years if not already held
- In-depth understanding of Public health agenda & Priorities
- Ability to apply and enact local strategy
- Understanding of clinical governance agenda
- All Wales Child Protection Procedures (2008) and Practice
- In depth knowledge of Health Visiting practice and strategic drivers
- Healthy Child Wales Programme(2015)
- Teaching in a clinical setting
- Safeguarding
- Multi-agency working
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective mentoring
