Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Paediatric Nurse to deliver high-quality, family-centred care to babies, children, and young people. The position involves working in a busy Paediatric Emergency Department and a paediatric inpatient ward/short stay assessment area on a rotational basis. Both newly qualified and experienced nurses are welcome, with comprehensive induction and preceptorship provided. The postholder will assess, plan, develop, and implement patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse and hold active registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Diploma/Degree level qualification relevant to role
- Professional qualification and knowledge of patient assessment, planning, developing and implementing programmes of care
- Evidence of mandatory and statutory essential training skills, for example, Basic Life Support, manual handling, infection control, fire etc
Desirable criteria
- Post Graduate qualification at Degree level relevant to role to demonstrate clinical skills
- Experience in nursing care, knowledge and expertise acquired through training
- Demonstrate experience of providing nursing care in the healthcare setting
- NHS experience or relevant health care organisation
- Professional clinical knowledge skills and skills that demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, develop and implement programmes of care
- Ability to apply professional judgement and problem solve
- Able to support learners and clinical supervision of junior staff.
- Able to support mentors in decisions related to students/learners and make judgements regarding competence and fitness to practice
- Day to day management of a patient caseload and delegate effectively to clinical support workers.
- Able to maintain work-related record keeping.

- Excellent communication skills and ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive information and provide reassurance and empathy
