Role summary
This role involves coordinating the inpatient pathway from decision to admit to the day of admission, ensuring compliance with national targets. Key responsibilities
- Manage and co-ordinate the inpatient pathway from the decision to admit to the day of admission.
- Maintain a clear and robust inpatient waiting list, monitoring suspension/deferrals.
- Book consultants' theatre lists and pre-operative assessments.
- Record all necessary information on the Trust Patient Administration System and Bluespier.
- Liaise with Team Leader/Supervisors regularly to receive updates on waiting times and discuss improvements.
- Provide a high level of customer care, exchanging information with patients and staff.
Essential criteria
- Education to GCSE level or equivalent as a minimum (inc Maths and English)
- NVQ 3 in relevant field or demonstrable level of equivalent experience
- Experience in an office environment. Use of computers
- Ability to manage busy workload where accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
- Team player / able to work flexibly
- Good communication /interpersonal skills.
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of Medical Records / Access Department
- Knowledge of NHS RTT Targets
- Knowledge of booking systems

We are seeking to recruit an Inpatient Booking Clerk to join the busy in-patient section of the Access Team.
The post holder will be involved in maintaining the delivery of the in-patient pathway of the Stage of Treatment, and Referral to Treatment Target (RTT) in line with national targets.
Successful applicants will need to be able to display discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information and be able to deal calmly and politely with staff of all levels and the public both face to face and by telephone.
Applicants must be educated to GCSE level or equivalent. Experience of working in a busy office environment and using computers is essential. Experience of using Careflow, Bluespier is desirable but training in the use of necessary computer systems will be provided.
Under current Home Office Immigration Rules, this role does not meet the UK Visas and Immigration criteria and the position is not therefore eligible for skilled worker sponsorship. Applications from candidates that require skilled worker sponsorship will NOT be shortlisted.
