Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Heart Failure Specialist Nurse to join the Coventry and Rugby Heart Failure Nursing Team on a 9-month secondment or fixed-term basis. The role involves clinically assessing patients with heart failure, providing specialist advice, and recommending evidence-based therapies. You will manage a caseload, support patients in various settings including their homes, and contribute to developing guidelines and protocols. The position requires a motivated Registered Nurse with post-registration experience and a passion for high-quality patient care.
Essential criteria
- oCurrent Professional Registration (RN) oFirst level degree or willingness to undertake oEvidence of continuous professional development oBasic / Intermediate life support oTeaching and assessing
Desirable criteria
- oHeart failure qualification or willing to undertake oClinical assessment course or willingness to undertake oCoronary care course oHealth promotion qualification oCounselling qualification oCurrent venepuncture and cannulation certificate
- oSignificant current clinical experience in cardiac nursing and/or CHD experience oAbility to successfully manage people and change oExperience of patient education
- oPrimary Care Experience oUnderstanding and knowledge of heart failure oExperience of working with people with complex needs oResource management oExperienced in venepuncture and cannulation
- oA knowledgeable clinician with the ability to apply evidence-based practice oConsiderable knowledge of heart failure evidence-based therapy oPsychosocial and cultural perspectives of health and disease oA sound knowledge of professional policies and procedures oKnowledge of clinical governance & a commitment to clinical supervision and staff development
- oA good understanding of current issues relating to the NHS. oExperience in Policy/Service Development oKnowledge of Community Services

Job summary
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join the Coventry and Rugby Heart Failure Nursing Team as a Band 6 Heart Failure Specialist Nurse on 9 month secondment or fixed-term. The post is 37.5 hours but other hours will be considered
The role will be primarily based atUniversity Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW), with opportunities for cross-site working atHospital of St Cross, Coventry Community Services, as well ashome visits and working from home.
The role will involve reviewing and clinically assessing patients with heart failure, providing specialist advice and recommending evidence-based therapies, including appropriate medications.
Applicants will need to hold a full driving licence and have access to a car to undertake the requirements of the role.
We are looking for applicants who have:
- Current Registered Nurse status and relevant post-registration experience.
- Essential knowledge and experience in the management of patients with heart failure.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- The ability to work autonomously as well as effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good IT skills.
- A full driving licence and access to a car.
- Venepuncture and clinical assessment skills are desirable
