Role summary
This role is for an experienced and motivated Band 6 Wound care Podiatrist to join the podiatry department at Royal Free Hospital. You will provide evidence-based wound care, contribute to patient education, and support complication prevention. The role involves working independently in assessment and diagnosis, providing quality treatment to high-risk patients in an acute setting, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including vascular, diabetes, and infectious diseases services. Essential criteria
- Diploma or BSc in Podiatry
- Registration with the Health Professions Council
- Certificate in use of Local Anaesthesia
Desirable criteria
- Relevant post graduate qualifications eg SOCAP diabetic foot module
- Skills and aptitudes
- Core skills in Podiatry, knowledge of acute foot conditions and wound management
- Ability to undertake intricate work in using sensitive diagnostic tools and a range of surgical instruments. e.g in the management and debridement of poor tissue viability wounds and nail surgery
- Advanced clinical treatment skills
- Positive attitude to change
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work within Trust policies, including clinical governance, data protection, equal opportunities, and health and safety, to meet the differing needs of the patient
- To manage stressful situations by remaining calm, objective and professional at all times
- Able to carry out concurrent activities (multi-tasking) and work in an unpredictable working pattern
- Competent IT skills including use of internet, email and word processing
