Role summary
This Staff Nurse role is in Interventional Cardiology at Glenfield Hospital, focusing on procedures under local anesthetic. Key responsibilities
- Provide on-call cover for emergency admissions as part of the team.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for patients.
- Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.
- Participate in the education, development, and supervision of other staff members.
- Act as a clinical and professional role model, mentoring and supporting students and learners.
- Perform comprehensive assessments of patients' nursing needs and plan, implement and evaluate care delivery.
Essential criteria
- RGN 1st or 2nd Level.
- Evidence of continuing professional development or evidence of reflective profile
- Have experience in supporting learners in the workplace and supervising their progress and/or assessing their practice.
- Willingness to undertake new clinical practices, education and training that will enhance service delivery.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate well in a variety of settings with patients of all cultures and with differing levels of understanding
- Ability to made decisions and prioritise a clinical patient workload.
- Acts as a mentor and/or assessor and provide support to learners within the ward or unit
- Understands the importance of teamwork and their role within the multi -disciplinary team
- Ability to develop and maintain effective interpersonal skills and relationships with colleagues across the health setting
- Has the ability to use initiative and to lead and co -ordinate a multi -disciplinary team with minimal supervision
- Good basic understanding of the importance of delivering high quality clinical nursing care
- Demonstrates knowledge of professional and NHS local and national nursing strategies and priorities
- Demonstrates understanding of quality and change and the importance of new ways of working.
- Able to present factual written and verbal information and deal with questions
- Basic Knowledge of IT
- Able to maintain accurate patient record
- Demonstrates satisfactory clinical expertise for the grade applied for. Experience will be dependent on the post/ward requirements at the time of recruitment

Interventional Cardiology is part of the wider Renal, Respiratory, Cardiac and Vascular management group (RRCV) at Glenfield Hospital (GH).The campus has its own emergency ambulance bay and helipad, modern specialty theatres and intensive care units are also based on this site.
GH campus is a regional centre for clinical research with both Respiratory and Cardiac Biomedical Research Units based here with close links with both the University of Leicester and De Montfort University.
Cardiac Cath Lab is an area where most of our procedures are under local anesthetic . This role is similar to theatre nursing with one to one patient contact with the opportunity to build a unique relationship with your patient and make a profound difference to their lives.
