Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Bromley CAMHS Learning Disabilities and Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDLD) Team. The post holder will provide assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions for children and young people within the NDLD pathway. The role involves working with young people diagnosed with Autism or ADHD, their families, and partner agencies. It offers potential for developing specialist interests and contributing to service development.
Key responsibilities
- Provide specialist assessment of complex referrals to formulate and implement treatment plans for neurodiverse children and adolescents.
- Assess children, adolescents, and their families as part of risk assessment and consult with parents/carers.
- Work sensitively and appropriately with families from diverse racial, cultural, and religious backgrounds, including various family forms.
- Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for client assessment, treatment, and discharge, formulating care plans and undertaking risk management.
- Provide specialist consultation, advice, and guidance to other professionals within the service and partner agencies.
- Act as care coordinator, initiating, planning, and reviewing care plans, and organising complex professional network meetings.
Essential criteria
- Post-graduate qualification in relevant mental health/social welfare profession (e.g. social work, nursing, OT, Art Therapy) and demonstrable practice over a minimum of three years.
- Minimum of 2 years working in CAMHS or with children and families in a relevant mental health or social care setting.
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to work with a racially and culturally diverse community in a wide variety of contexts including highly specialist skills for working therapeutically
- Experience of working with child who are neurodiverse.
- Evidence of ability to competently assess risk, and manage complex and dynamic risk of children and young people
- Good understanding of child development, and relevant mental health difficulties
Desirable criteria
- Experience of additional training or teaching
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, ethical issues and strategic frameworks including The Children Act 1989, and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management
- Experience of offering supervision

Bromley Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)
A very exciting opportunity has arisen to join our enthusiastic and supportive Bromley CAMHS Learning Disabilities and Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDLD) Team.
The NDLD team is the base for a variety of professional disciplines with a wide range of professional experience, of which the post holder will contribute. The post holder will offer assessment, formulation and evidence-based intervention for children and young people (CYP) within the NDLD pathway and the successful applicant will have experience working with young people who have a diagnosis of Autism (ASD) or Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), families and partner agencies.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to utilise specialist skills to deliver both individual and group interventions, adapted flexibly and creatively for CYP with mental needs. The NDLD Team consists of a diverse client group as well as the opportunity to work with a range of clinical presentations.
