Role summary

This full-time Outpatient Pathway Coordinator role is central to the smooth running of the Outpatient Department at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will coordinate patient pathways, manage appointments and referrals efficiently, and deliver excellent patient care. This position requires a motivated, organised individual who thrives in a busy environment and has administrative experience. The working hours are fixed as Mon-Fri 08:30 am to 16:30.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient pathways.

Essential criteria

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience in customer care
  • ECDL or equivalent experience
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to and skills in customer care
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other Microsoft and Trust applications
  • Understanding of the IPM system or a similar PAS system
  • Able to work to deadlines and under pressure
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with a professional and courteous manner
  • Ability to contribute to team working and to develop good working relationships
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when handling sensitive issues
  • Detailed knowledge of the Outpatient Department and its current processes
  • Understanding of the need of confidentiality awareness at all times

  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent standard of education in English and Mathematics or equivalent work based experience
