Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Pharmacy Technician to provide professional and efficient services in the Pharmacy Dispensary at Harefield Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for the smooth running of the dispensary and stores, managing senior rotational pharmacy assistants, and dispensing clinically screened prescriptions. They will also counsel patients on medication use and ensure compliance with prescribed treatments. This is an excellent opportunity for career progression within hospital pharmacy.
Essential criteria
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians. (or equivalent)
- General Pharmaceutical Council (GPHC) registration as a Pharmacy Technician
- Holds a current ACPT checking qualification.
Desirable criteria
- Educational supervisor qualification or equivalent
- Edward Jenner or equivalent qualification.
- Member of APTUK
- Experience working in pharmacy.
- Experience in training staff
- Good competence in patient counselling
- Experience of stock management
- Previous Hospital Pharmacy experience
- Experience of guideline and /or policy development.
- Oral presentation to groups of healthcare professionals
- Skills and abilities
- Ability to work quickly, accurately and in an organised manner and be able to prioritise
- Previous experience in managing staff
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software and Pharmacy
- Ability to use initiative
- Previous experience in EPIC
- Proven ability for team working, good interpersonal skills, adaptability, a positive "can do" attitude and a positive attitude to change
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Meet set targets
- Knowledge of one's limitations and ability to refer to other staff when appropriate.
- Ability to work quickly, calmly and accurately under pressure.

Job summary
We are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will provide a professional, efficient and customer focused service in the Pharmacy Dispensary at Harefield Hospital.

Main duties of the job

To manage the senior rotational pharmacy assistants in dispensary and stores.
To be responsible for managing dispensary and stores staff rotas.
To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of the senior rotational pharmacy assistants providing dispensary and distribution services on the Harefield site.
The post holder will dispense clinically screened prescriptions and Controlled Drugs (CDs), including labelling, preparation, assembly and dispensing, using the Epic - Willow and Hyperspace systems in a timely manner.
