Role summary
This role is for an experienced Sexual Health Staff Nurse to join an integrated Sexual Health service at Croydon University Trust on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The nurse will participate in daily service delivery, support nurse-led clinics, and provide high-quality nursing advice and clinical treatment for STIs and sexual health. The position requires a motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills committed to professional development within a multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities
- To participate in ensuring the daily delivery of Integrated Sexual Health Services
- To liaise with the multi-disciplinary team including clinical and non-clinical staff.
- To support Nurse Led Clinical sessions including history taking and physical examinations of patients.
- Provide direct patient care, providing high quality nursing advice and clinical treatment on all aspects of STIs and sexual health.
- To adhere to the patient group directives (PGDs).
Essential criteria
- RGN and registration with NMC
- Knowledge of Contraception and Sexual Health
- Understanding of NMC Code of Conduct and Professional Accountability
- Previous experience of working on a ward
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to work independently, to make decisions and deal with conflict
- Good communications and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of standard setting and quality management
- Competent in IT skills
- Non-judgemental - able to support client choices (including those of young people)
- Administering treatments and vaccinations
- Venepuncture
Desirable criteria
- BSc degree in nursing
- Post registration qualification in contraception, e.g. DFSRH
- GUM qualification or course in STIs e.g. STIF
- Knowledge of current nursing issues
- Clinical audit
- Knowledge and understanding of national guidance and policy related to the development of an integrated sexual health service
- Knowledge of clinical governance
- Sexual Health & contraception experience
- Experience of working in Nurse Led clinics
- Skills in Contraception and Sexual Health Nursing
- Microscopy and cryotherapy

We are an integrated Sexual Health service and a Level 3 GUM/Family Planning and HIV Service. We are looking for someone who is motivated, enthusiastic and possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
