Role summary
This role is for a compassionate and motivated Health Care Assistant to join a nurse-led overnight respite service at Holly / Gramer House. You will support children and young people with learning disabilities, complex health needs, and/or challenging behaviour. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, implementing care plans, supporting therapeutic activities, and contributing to managing complex health needs under supervision. The role involves working shifts across days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Key responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate and person-centred care to children with learning disabilities and complex health needs.
- Assist with personal care, mobility and daily living activities.
- Support clinical interventions under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Help children manage challenging behaviours in a positive and supportive way.
- Encourage independence and participation in therapeutic and recreational activities.
- Contribute to household tasks including menu planning, shopping, laundry and cleaning.
Essential criteria
- To have / willing to work towards Level 3 - equivalent / relevant experience
- Able to follow policies and procedures
- Experience working in a recognised care setting
- Must hold a full driving licence with business use.

Job summary
We are seeking compassionate, resilient and motivated Health Care Assistants to join our dedicated team. Holly / Gramer House is a nurse led, overnight respite service and you will support children and young people with learning disabilities, complex health needs and / or challenging behaviour. You will assist with day-to-day personal care, implement individual care plans and support therapeutic activities that promote health, independence, dignity, well-being and positive outcomes.
You will contribute to managing complex health needs, including assisting with clinical interventions under supervision and supporting children engage positively in their environment. Building trusting relationships with children, families and colleagues will be a key part of your role.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone whose passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with additional needs, while developing their own skills and experience in a supportive healthcare environment.
Previous experience working in learning disability services is preferable but not essential, full training will be provided. We offer a comprehensive induction programme and a commitment to completing the Care Certificate is essential. As the service operates 24 hours
