Role summary

This role is for an enthusiastic and proficient Echocardiographer with BSE accreditation in Adult TTE. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic cardiac centre, utilising state-of-the-art equipment for various echocardiography procedures including 3D, TOE, and DSE. The position involves performing echocardiograms, providing accurate reports, supervising staff, and contributing to the development of high-quality echocardiography services across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform echocardiograms on both inpatients and outpatients to a high standard, at all trust sites.
  • Provide clear and accurate reports on echocardiograms.
  • Ensure that reports generated by non-specialist cardiac physiologists and cardiology registrars are comprehensive, clear and accurate.
  • Play an active role in the supervision and training of medical and technical staff in all areas of echocardiography.
  • To join with our imaging cardiologists and Operational lead in echography in developing high quality echocardiography across the trust.
  • To facilitate training and accreditation of technical and trainee medical staff to contribute significantly to regular echo review meetings.

Essential criteria

  • oBSc (Hons) in a science subject or equal
  • oBSE accreditation in adult echocardiography.
  • oAdvanced specialist knowledge of all modalities of echocardiography.
  • oSound decision making, analytical and judgement skills.
  • oAbility to foresee implications of decisions and their impact on others.
  • oAbility to work under pressure/meet tight deadlines whilst delivering high quality work.
  • oExcellent knowledge of technical cardiology.
  • oSkills necessary for performing dobutamine stress echocardiography.
  • oExcellent interpersonal skills
  • oMotivated
  • oPositive approach to customer care

  • oClinical/ Physical Skills
  • oRegistration with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists or other appropriate council

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and proficient individual who is trained within the field of Echocardiography and holds up to date BSE accredited in Adult TTE.

The successful candidate will be employed on at Band 7 and will be expected to complete internal departmental competencies.

This is an unrivalled opportunity to work at the leading edge of cardiac technology and patient care in a dynamic and innovative environment. Working with state-of-the-art echocardiographic equipment in a fully digital lab you will have the opportunity to work in all aspects of echocardiography, including 3D, in one of the North's leading cardiac centres.

The department offers a range of imaging procedures/clinics such as Transthoracic, TOE, DSE, Dedicated Oncology Monitoring Clinic and CRT optimisation.

As a leading tertiary centre, we offer and encourage extended roles at present these are within Research and Audit. Echocardiographers are supported through the clinical skills assessment course for the Physiologist lead valve clinics, They provide image support within our well established Structural Heart disease program (TAVI and Paravalvular closure ). Along with Physiologist led TOE and Exercise Echo.
