Role summary

This role is for a Band 4 Medical Secretary within the Specialty Medicine Collaborative, specifically in the stroke department at Cumberland Infirmary. You will be the first point of contact for patients, providing high-standard administrative support to the clinical team. The position requires a professional, patient-focused individual with excellent communication skills to manage a busy workload efficiently. It is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, working 22.5 hours per week.

Essential criteria

  • oGCSE English language (minimum grade C) or equivalent.
  • oRSA 3 typewriting / word processing, or NVQ3 business administration, or equivalent.

Job summary

Band 4 (22.5 hours Monday-Wednesday) Medical Secretary in Speciality Medicine

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Medicine administration team, the service aims to provide a high quality, locally delivered, patient focussed service.

This role will be crucial to the efficient day to day delivery of the service.

We are looking for a competent and professional Medical Secretary to be based at the Cumberland Infirmary working in the Specialty Medicine Collaborative within the stroke department.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will often be the first point of contact for our patients therefore a professional, patient focused approach is key at all times. You will provide a high standard of administration support to the clinical team, liaising with other departments, patients, NHS Trusts and external agencies.

You should be educated to GCSE (minimum C Grade) standard, be trained to RSA level 3 standard and/or an NVQ level 3 in Administration and/or have the equivalent experience, preferably having a medical administration background.

We are looking for someone with a pleasant, adaptable disposition who can remain calm under pressure and deal with a busy workload efficiently and effectively
