Role summary
This role is for a Band 6 Resuscitation Officer to join a motivated team at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The officer will be responsible for developing and delivering a high-quality Resuscitation Service, including Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 resuscitation training in line with RCUK guidelines. The position supports clinical governance, staff competence, and patient outcomes, and involves providing expert guidance during cardiac arrest calls.
Essential criteria
- NMC/HCPC registered practitioner
- RC UK ALS provider or willingness to complete (options to complete dependant on individual circumstances)
Desirable criteria
- EPLS Instructor
- ALS Instructor or ILS Instructor
- NLS instructor
- Qualification in teaching and assessment
- Clinical practice in an acute area
- Experience of teaching/developing supervising and mentoring staff
- Experience in caring for Paediatric patients
- Evidence of involvement in the delivery resuscitation training to clinical staff within an acute Hospital setting
- Ability to deliver simulation training with advanced manikins
- Experience of holding a cardiac arrest bleep
- Experience in attending births
- Current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines on Resuscitation
- Awareness of the recommendations for the requirements of resuscitation training within an acute Hospital Trust setting
- Sound awareness of : Health & Safety
- Sound awareness of : Risk management procedures
- Sound awareness of : Clinical Governance
- Sound awareness of : NMC Code of Conduct and guideline of professional practice
- Basic knowledge of Research, Audit and Data collection
- Ability to apply current Research
- Previous experience in the delivery of resuscitation training in an acute Hospital setting
- Experience with audit/research and data collection
- Experience in data presentation
- Ability to assist with the development of the Resuscitation service and maintain high standards
- Ability to work with other teams of staff
- Ability to work autonomously
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work using time management skills
- Computer skills e.g. Power Point
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic
- Evidence of good interpersonal skills
- Proven verbal and communication skills specifically in presentation of educational material
- Ability to remain calm and work effectively in an emergency situation
- Ability to identify problems relating to resuscitation issues and be pro-active in the management of any issues arising

Job summary
We are seeking a Band 6 Resuscitation Officer to join our motivated and passionate team, supporting the ongoing development and delivery of a high-quality Resuscitation Service across CUH.
You will play a key role in delivering Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 resuscitation training to a diverse and motivated workforce, in line with Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) guidelines and training framework requirements.
We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical governance, ensuring compliance with RCUK and CQC standards. Through education, assurance, and continuous improvement, the Resuscitation Service supports staff competence and confidence, ultimately improving outcomes for patients accessing CUH services.
Main duties of the job
Deliver a comprehensive, efficient and effective Resuscitation Service across the Trust, in line with NHS Trust policies, Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) and Advanced Life Support Group (ALSG) standards and guidance.
Lead, Plan, deliver and evaluate Basic, Immediate and Advanced Life Support training, ensuring all education is aligned.
Support the wider organisation to meet patient safety, clinical governance, and regulatory requirements, contributing to the delivery of safe, high-quality clinical services.
