Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Nursing Associate to join the School Nursing Team in Milton Keynes. The role supports the 5-19 element of the Healthy Child Programme, focusing on preventative health and delivering high-quality care to children and young people in various settings. You will assist School Nurses and Registered Nurses in providing family-centred care, promoting public health, and safeguarding children. The post holder will work without constant direct supervision within their scope of practice, managing a caseload and delivering planned packages of care.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to children aged 5-19 years, focusing on promoting health and independence.
- Work under the delegation of the School Nurse, managing a caseload and delivering planned packages of care.
- Assist in the delivery of high-quality evidence-based programmes for individuals or groups of parents/carers/children.
- Deliver care to families in their homes, community locations, and schools.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of programmes and activities such as health needs assessments, continence, obesity/healthy eating, oral health, sleep, and school readiness.
- Support parents and young people with enuresis information, face to face, virtually, and in a group setting.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nursing Associate on the United Kingdom NMC register
- Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification
- Understand the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation; including how the role may contribute to service developmen
- Understand and act in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
- Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice.
- Understand requirements for NMC professional revalidation.
- Understand the importance of following procedures, polices and treatment or care plans.
- Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate
- Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information.
- Aware of the Healthy Child Programme and the involvement of the 0-19 Team in its delivery
- Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload.
- Ability to deal with non-routine and unpredictable nature of workload

This relatively new post, that will support the current School Nursing Team to deliver the 5-19 element of the Healthy Child Programme.
