Role summary

Key responsibilities
- Assess health needs and contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of care for children, young people and families across home, clinic, school and community settings.
- Work alongside Health Visitors and School Nurses to support vulnerable children and families, contributing to safeguarding assessments, interventions and reviews.
- Monitor the health, wellbeing and development of children at risk, supporting multi-agency plans that promote safety and positive outcomes.
- Deliver evidence-based health promotion, parenting support and interventions that improve wellbeing and reduce health inequalities.
- Recognise, record and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with local and national procedures.
- Maintain professional competence through training, appraisal and CPD.
Essential criteria
- Active registration on Part 1 of the NMC register
- Evidence of continued professional development in the last 2 years
- Knowledge of national and local strategies pertaining to young people
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures
- IT literacy skills and ability to use electronic record keeping systems.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Recognises the limits of own authority and seeks and uses professional support where necessary
- Demonstrates professional curiosity.
Desirable criteria
- Assessor in practice
- Experience of working with children and young people
- Previous experience working in a public health role.
- Experience of NHS IT systems
- Safeguarding children experience

The role includes delivering high-quality, safe and effective care, supporting health promotion, early help and targeted interventions, and contributing to service quality standards, KPIs, clinical governance, audit and service improvement activities.
